The multifactorial treatment plan for lymphedema does not have a specific duration. Patients are monitored for life as the condition of lymphedema is not cured, but is effectively managed and maintained at a level acceptable to the patient. Without treatment, the condition constantly worsens. Some stages of the program have a specific duration, as defined below, but again can be modified based on the needs of each patient.
